Our Story
The Spirit of BEYUL
BEYUL is a small studio working in the tradition of Chinese hexiang — blended incense made by grinding aromatic woods, resins, roots and spices into a fine powder, working them into a paste, then pressing or rolling each piece by hand. Every bracelet and plaque is shaped, dried and finished in small batches. We choose materials for the way they sit next to each other in a blend, and we make pieces meant to be worn or hung rather than burned.
How We Work
Crafting Scent, Preserving Heritage
He Xiang Blending
Our blends follow the logic of classical Chinese hexiang: aromatics are chosen for how they balance against one another, not for one dominant note.
Ground and Pressed by Hand
Materials are ground to a fine powder, worked into a paste, then pressed or rolled into shape and left to dry slowly. Weight, texture and colour vary slightly from piece to piece.
Made to Be Worn
Each piece is finished with a braided cord or tassel so it can be worn or hung. It carries its scent with it — nothing is burned, and there is no smoke.

Our Botanical Palette
Sandalwood, clove, cinnamon, angelica root, frankincense and other aromatic materials, weighed out to a formula rather than mixed by eye. Individual designs vary slightly in the materials they use.
Handcrafted in Small Batches
Every plaque is pressed and shaped by hand, so no two pieces are identical.
A Scent That Evolves
The aroma sits close to the skin and shifts gradually over time as the piece warms. Keeping it in its pouch slows the change.
